Thoreau: Expectation of the Dawn

Sunrise, Daufuskie Island

We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake,
not by mechanical means,
but by an infinite expectation of the dawn,
which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep.

    • Thanks C.C., Thoreau is always good for a reminder. Yes, I did take the photo. Nature was very kind to offer me this shot. A few years ago I did some work on Daufuskie. I woke at 5:00 every morning to walk the beach for a few hours before work; I have hundreds of photos of sunrises, crabs, shells, interesting sand patterns, etc.!
